Anesthesia as a future career choice among students of azal university
Background: exposure to university curriculum is a primary driver of career choice for allied medical science students, directly impacting national workforce planning. While personal and financial factors matter, academic and clinical exposure during bachelor`s program reshapes initial preferences into concrete professional paths.
Objective: to determined the choice of anesthesia as a future career among students of Azal university.
Materials and methods: in a cross-sectional study, the students at anesthesia department, of first and second year, voluntary agreed to participate and fill a structured questionnaire. The questionnaire south information on their perception of anesthesia as a future career.
Result: among 120 students of first and second level, fifty-five were voluntary enrolled, most of them were single male (96.4%,92.7% respectively) between 19 and 25 years old, and of the first year of university 90.9%. most participants knew that anesthesia as specialty is important and fun 89.1%, and increase the knowledge and awareness 65.5%, with a better social status 69.1%, and better job opportunity 16.4% in the future. 92.7% agreed that anesthesia as a career choice improve the daily income and needs high skills 89.1%, which doesn`t interfere with family life 72.7%, and as a profession allows enough time to enjoy leisure 61.8%, while anesthesia as profession affects family and social relations 58.2%, it is limited to particular sex 61.8%.
Conclusion: the finding supported the positive views about the field of anesthesia, recognizing its importance, financial advantages, and the high level of skill required and the student's choice of anesthesia as a future career.
